Final Magazine Cover

My finished magazine cover! I didn't make a whole lot of major changes. I mostly tweaked my typefaces and masthead. I decided not to draw over the leaf logo with the Wacom tablet because I was not achieving the look I desired. I feel that it looked sloppy rather than stylized like I had hoped. However, I now think I like the plain leaf logo better since it is cohesive with the natural and simple purpose of my magazine.

Magazine Cover Still In Progress

My magazine cover is almost done! Today in class I added the background image, which is a digital photo of a patterned shirt. I made the image less opaque and toned down the brightness. I also tweaked the image of the woman a bit more by cleaning up the edges and changing the brightness, contrast, and color balance. I also added my article titles and changed the color of the masthead. I still have to add the leaf image that I created in Illustrator. I'm planning on using the Wacom tablet to draw on top of the leaf image and add some personal style.

Magazine Cover In Progress

Here is my masthead and my main image for my magazine cover. I scanned the image of the woman from a magazine and played with a lot of different filters and compositions. I created the leaf logo for my masthead in Illustrator, and I plan to tweak it by playing with colors and opacity in Photoshop. I decided to add the leaf logo and "be a natural beauty" slogan since my magazine is about achieving beauty through natural products. I plan to take pictures of different textures such as flowers, trees, and other objects found in nature to incorporate in the background.

Magazine Masthead Examples

Here are a few examples of typefaces that I am considering using for the masthead of my magazine cover. I created the typeface on the top left by using the Wacom tablet in Photoshop then creating a vector image of it in Illustrator. The rest of the typefaces are from InDesign. I originally wanted my masthead to have a elegant handwritten look, but after exploring many different typefaces I am now leaning toward the simple and "clean cut" style typefaces.
